^______^ I just put up the "Seawee Fairy" last night~ I've been wanting to created a fairy mermaid for awhile now. I just haven't had the chance to sit down and draw it until this last weekend. Things have been kinda spiraling down out of control here. I was hoping this year would be different, but so far, we still haven't found any steady work since last June '08 when ShutterBox was canceled. But, I know the economy is bad all around. Still looking, preparing material and hoping for a new publishing deal. However, it seems the only real way to go these day is entirely through the web. Sadly, every single hopeful animation job has fallen through too~ either canceled or rejected outright. =(
Rikki and I were hoping to launch the new website last month, but we ran into a double family crisis. About mid March, My 90 year old grandmother had to be moved from her residence because she started showing signs of dementia. She's now staying at a convalescent hospital in L.A. until we can find a more permanent place for her. At the same time my mother's condition worsened and she too had to be removed from her residence because of erratic and disruptive behavior, and placed in a psych ward hospital for observation and evaluation. She has been put on two psych drugs and so far has been more stable. Sadly, she doesn't seem to know how to stay focused long enough to feed herself anymore. And it seems she's having a harder time recognizing me and Rikki. She doesn't know how to follow simple commands or gestures anymore either. There's been a drastic decline in mom's health since we had taken her to meet her new doctor in late January. I'm working closely with her case managers to see what's best for her.
Hopefully, we'll have the new Tavicat site up and running with the web comics asap. There's just a few more tweaks and arty things to finish up. So sorry for the delays~ ^______^ We're doing our best and we're refusing to give up~!

Tomorrow Rikki and I take Mom in for a psychiatric evaluation. Unfortunately, we don't think she'll pass. This all happening the very same time Grandma (90+) is undergoing psychiatric care and evaluation for 17 days at a Glendale hospital. Rikki and I are convinced those two are psychicly linked. >____<*** :::crosses fingers::: Here's hoping mom doesn't make a big public scene this time.

^___^ It's already Feb. 2009~! Last month we had a blast at OhayoCon ^^ We had fun playing in the snow even though it was cold~! XD A special Get WELL 100% ASAP message goes out to our dear friend, Greg Ayres (voice actor, DJ extraordinaire, and anime fan) who has been recovering from a very mild heart attack he suffered while attending as a guest at Ikkicon. | Happy Wedding to David & Wendy~! |

♥ Happy almost holidays everyone~! Congratulations to our friend David and his new bride Wendy~! They married yesterday, Dec 13th, but~ we missed their exchange of vows~! Curse you LA traffic on the 5frwy~! We were 15mins late =(.... But~ we at least were on time to their reception along with 200 other guests XD I think this was thee biggest wedding Rikki and I ever attended. It was a traditional Chinese 9 course Wedding dinner~! This included pressed duck,tempura lobster,scallops & asparagus, and not to mention sea cucumber and jellyfish~! I liked the jellyfish, but the sea cucumber was very bland. Everything was very beautiful~ the setting and the friends and family were such lovely people. It was a happy reunion seeing some old friends there too.

♥ Hello everyone~! It's Dec and about time I put some more artwork on eBay. I decided to try selling two original watercolors there for the first time. ^___^ I'm sorry the two original Reality Check! art pages came out so dark in the photos. >__<***
Still nothing happening here as far as job/publishers go, and we're over our heads in lawyer's fees...But, this won't be the first time in our career we can't celebrate a christmas, so it goes. Let's hope the year of the Ox will bring better fortunes to us and our projects ( and to everyone else out there having a hard time )~! :::hugs::: ♥

| Another watercolor ^^ |

XD Okee~ Not quite the Holiday card yet, but again something I just recently painted. I had this old sketch of AJ and Terra Bella (ShutterBox) laying around for over 3 years~ It was the design I *didn't* use for the watercolor spread inside ShutterBox vol.4 Mainly because I didn't like how Terra Bella's horn looked behind AJ's hair. I guess I could had re-worked it again to fix that problem, but then I would have to redraw it on a larger paper ^______^**** And I didn't really want to change the original sketch *that* much.
Just to update everyone on Mom's conservatorship situation~Still waiting for the last of the paperworks for me to sign and to be filed. It's been a long and crazy road~ I'm so happy it's nearly completed.
We're trying to plan a day trip for Grandma to spend some more time with Mom. She misses her a lot~ and still wonders why her daughter can't live with her anymore. I have to constantly remind Grandma that Mom is too sick to live with her anymore. It's been difficult to transport Mom anywhere other than to her doctor's appointments because of her sundowning episodes. The window of time before she starts her sundowning has gotten a little shorter now and she seems to get irritable around 2:30~3:pm ish. It's been difficult explaining this to Grandma, who turned 90 in July, who still thinks of Mom as she was before her dementia. We'll work something out though~ ^___^ I really want them to share some Christmas time together~ Also, I just want to say again to everyone, thank you so very, very much for all the love and support over all this. <3 |

| Mocking Bird Mocks Pippi XD |

I need to start off by saying Thank you SO much~! To the generous person who gave me a paid LJ account~! ^____^ It is much appreciated~ and I know I should keep better updates, so I appologize for not posting in awhile.
A couple weeks ago we were visited one morning by a rumbustious mocking bird pecking away at the glass door to our balcony. Apparently it has a nest somewhere nearby and was disturbed to see Pippi sitting nonchalantly inside our room. It made several attack pecks at the glass directed at Pippi~ and at one point we were concerned that it would hurt itsself in it's failed attempt to scare Pippi off. Nothing ever seems to phase Pip. XD Anyhoo, I took some photos of it~before it finally gave up and left.

A few days after that, the same mocking bird was dive bombing at the car in the driveway~ XD But, soon gave up when it failed to scare the car off~ lol
Hopefully it's eggs hatched and its over zealous parental instincts have calmed down, because since the car insident, we haven't seen it. I'm still waiting to see the racoon family again~ Sadly I wonder if the coyotes scared them off. Seems we have a small pack here that live in the hillside. We haven't seen any approach the house since that one a few weeks ago, but everynight we'll hear them whooping it up with their eerie yips and yowls. They end up rattling up the local dogs too. I'm just hoping everyone in the neighborhood keeps in their small pets in at night. ^___^***
Thank goodness the conservatorship for mom is running according to plan. The court appearance went surprisingly fast (even to the lawyer's surprise) and now it's all about the filing process. ^___^ Luckily, for her own safety, Mom wasn't required to appear in court and instead had a court appointed attorney who was very sympathetic towards her case.
We're still at a stalemate with TokyoPop and sadly this has caused ShutterBox vol. 5 to remain in haitus for the time being. We sincerely apologize to everyone who has been waiting for it so diligently. Thank you so much for all the love & support over the years~ but as I've said in earlier posts, we're not giving up. We *WILL* continue the series in the near future.

Hello again everyone~! Me & the muses have been working on a few commissions and still unpacking and sorting from the move~! As soon as more things calm down, I'll post some photos in the LJ. I got some the other day of Pippi being taunted by a silly mocking bird through the glass door. It kept dive-bombing at her but she wouldn't flinch~she was amused. The same silly bird has taken to dive bomb at the cars in our driveway as well. Hmm...I think it's nest must be nearby.
On a bit of a troubled note, Fargo's mother, Dutchess ( female tortoise shell/long-haired persian/maine coon mix), hasn't been seen since 12noon and it's now dark outside. We're all getting worried since coyotes are in the area. Rikki's mother is trying to lure her back by putting her sandbox on the front porch tonight. But, if we can't find her soon, I'm sure we'll be making some missing cat notices asap and posting them on-line as well.
